MA (2 years, 4 Semesters) General and SF
BA (Sanskrit Special) with a minimum of 35 per cent marks in the aggregate in theory papers at the University Examination. Admissions to the programme are based on merit, with the merit list being prepared by the University and publicised on the University Website.
Each of the Core and Elective Courses carries a weighting of 100 marks in the ratio of 30:70 for Internal Assessment and University Examination respectively. The Self Study Course & the Soft Skills Course, and the Comprehensive Viva Voce carry a weighting of 50 marks each in the ratio of 15:35 for Internal Assessment and University Examination respectively.

MA (External) (2 years, Annual Pattern) BA (Sanskrit Special) with a minimum of 35 per cent marks in the aggregate at the External Examination. A separate External Courses Admission Cell has been set up by the University for the purpose of admissions under this programme. All queries regarding admissions, syllabus, old question papers, results etc should be addressed to the External Courses Admission Cell (Room 118) in the Main Administrative Office of the University in person or on phone on 02692-226865, and not to the Department.

Eligibility – Ph.D. & Syllabus
Ph.D. (Full-time : 2 yrs; Part-time : 3 yrs)
MA (Entire Sanskrit) and/or MPhil (Sanskrit) with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in the aggregate at the External Examination conducted by the University. Admissions are based on Entrance Test, Interview and merit.
- Applicants with NET-JRF/NET-L/GSET, MPhil etc are exempted from the Entrance Test. Applicants securing 50 per cent marks in the Entrance Test conducted by the Department or at MPhil are called for an interview with the members of the PhD Research and Development Committee (DRC) in the Department.
- Each of them is required to make a short oral presentation on a topic and related to his/her research area/interest, giving a clear idea of ‘why’ and ‘how’ the research proposed to be undertaken is important and the amount of work they might have already put into it thus far.
- They are required to bring with them five copies of the text of their presentation for the members of the PhD DRC in the Department, and take questions on it during the interview.
